GUIDE Association - Global Universities In Distance Education – which involves more than 80 Universities as part of the network, finds its origin from the common need of Distance Universities (Open Universities) by promoting and spreading collaborative projects and by supporting research and increasing cooperation, respecting cultural diversities of each member. Founded by the Università degli Studi “Guglielmo Marconi”,
the Association aims at promoting and enhancing the exchange of experiences and resources in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) already existing worldwide, in order to improve international cooperation in the field of digital technologies applications and research. In conjunction with the dissemination of guidelines and good practices, the mission of GUIDE is to provide a global cooperation model for “open” universities with different cultural, social and economic backgrounds, facilitating dialogue and interaction among public and private bodies and other institutional actors involved in distance education.

UnisulVirtual Brazil
UnisulVirtual is the campus dedicated to all the Distance Education projects and programs of the University of Southern Santa Catarina (UNISUL), with 27 undergraduate programs,16 post-graduate programs and 12 thousand students altogether.
Authorized by the Ministry of Education of Brazil (MEC) since 2003, it is a reference in Distance Education thanks to its unique methodology.
Based on the concept of virtual university, the pedagogical model adopted by UnisulVirtual stands out for providing students with total flexibility in terms of time and place of study. The courses are web-based. UnisulVirtual has its own VLS (Virtual Learning Space), where students have tutor support throughout their courses.
UnisulVirtual also participates in international cooperation projects in the field of Distance Education. Currently, it collaborates with such institutions as the Open University UK, MIT and GUIDE Association.
In addition to undergraduate and post-graduate programs, it offers extension courses and complementary teacher training courses. It delivers Distance Education to and has agreements with over 40 institutes, organizations, ministries, bureaus and agencies.

CEDIPROE Argentina CEDIPROE (Centro de Diseño, Producción y Evaluación de Recursos Multimediales para el aprendizaje) was founded in 1990 as the first institution in Latin America dedicated to training and research on technology-mediated education. It designed and implemented the post-graduation program for Instructional Designers, the first of its kind in that region. It brings together several experts in both in content and in face-to-face and distance tutoring, many of them coming from the department of Educational Technology of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata which, in turn, does scientific and technological research.
Run by Beatriz Fainholc (www.beatrizfainholc.com), CEDIPROE offers courses and seminars for formal, non-formal, open, face-to-face, blended and virtual education in order to train professionals in the fields of Educational Technology and Distance Education. It introduces technological and educational innovations, such as the first webquest site in Argentina (www.webquest.org.ar).
CEDIPROE does comprehensive research and publishes as well. It also provides technical assistance nationally and internationally.

Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi – Telematica, Italy
The Università degli Studi “Guglielmo Marconi” – a public non-state Italian University – is the first Italian Athenaeum which follows the “Open University” model. Born in 2004 and recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the innovative methodology of USGM consists in merging e-learning, m-learning and t-learning solutions, with the purpose of improving the students’ learning outcomes. Nowadays, with around ten thousand students, the on line educational offer is composed of six faculties, more than 50 First and Second level Degrees, Master Programmes, Postgraduate Schools, PhDs and professional updating courses. The University, whose headquarters are in Rome, comprises and coordinates a network of branch offices placed in other districts and all fully furnished with high performing technological instruments necessary to: attend traditional classes, follow the distance courses and seminars, meet teachers and tutors and receive customized assistance during the whole study path.
